This construction often takes place in rough weather conditions. A new generation of inline-balanced heave compensators allows for safe, uninterrupted operations in harsh, offshore environments. These intelligent systems keep loads geo-stationary by compensating for the movement of ships caused by wind and wave action. Traditional solutions require manual attention under harsh conditions. This work is labor intensive, error prone, and increases latency. The new, intelligent systems rely on extremely detailed diagnostic data, made available in real time from the cloud, to keep the loads balanced. This presentation will discuss how technologies such as cloud access, real-time databases, industrial hardware, and space-based connectivity empower such advances in safe, reliable offshore construction.
