Biography

Elly is responsible for supporting Portsmouth International Port with its ongoing green credentials. The port has made ambitious plans to be carbon net-zero by 2030 and emissions free by 2050. Elly supports the Port by developing and driving projects that help them on their decarbonisation journey. Elly is also a student with The Open University, currently studying toward a degree in Environmental Science.

How a federated digital twin ecosystem was used to solve a complex sustainability problem in maritime involving heterogenous data and diverse ownership. Each of the five participants was able to pursue their own selfish agendas whilst contributing to the collective goal of de-carbonising the maritime traffic using hydrogen. The outcomes were mainly in the research of the feasibility of generating enough electricity and hydrogen to (partially) power a specially adapted diesel engine, but there were concrete improvements to the air quality and operations of the port as well.
