In 2022, the City of Bristol introduced the Bristol City Leap program, a blueprint for smart cities to reach net-zero. By partnering with Ameresco and Vattenfall UK, Bristol will use a combination of connected sustainable technologies, including solar energy systems, scalable heat networks and various energy efficiency measures, to replace its entire infrastructure. Over the first five years of the partnership, Bristol is expected to receive 140k tonnes of carbon savings and 182MW of zero-carbon energy generation. The program advances Bristol's goal of decarbonising its energy system by 2030.
