Unlocking Next Generation Ride Sharing Platforms with Smart Mobility

Today, millions of customers worldwide are registered and use various ridesharing and carsharing platforms. As public sectors and automakers start to pay more attention, a new generation of services is emerging and with it a number of challenges including regulatory ones and car ownership models that are drastically shifting. New business models are being created to take advantage of the opportunity and we want to hear about that as well as about the data privacy issues. This panel will discuss this topic with experts from both the public and private sectors.

Securing Autonomous Vehicles: Where Are We?

Automotive technologies are increasing capabilities in leaps and bounds compared to where they were a few short years ago.  However, the specter of security vulnerabilities threatens to subvert the vision of the future. In automotive, as in many industrial verticals, security does not live in isolation. These technologies will need to secure the vehicle itself better, and also secure communications from vehicle to vehicle (V2V), vehicle to infrastructure (V2I), and vehicle to everything (V2E). Furthermore, the security must be somehow monitored, and there must be some capacity for managing it to address future changes and updates to counteract any new threats. In order to realize the potential of our future automotive vision, the security issues must be addressed sufficiently to provide industry-wide trustworthiness as the technology evolves more quickly with dramatically greater complexity.

Smart Infrastructure Multi-purposed For Today and Tomorrow

As cities become smarter, become more densely populated, and advance with technologies, the opportunity arises to solve everyday challenges with smart solutions and infrastructure. But, what constitutes smart infrastructure? Just because something is ‘smart’, will it work? Where is it successfully deployed today? Why does my community need it? What assets address a core service while providing the opportunity to expand to deliver even more to its environment? Getting more out of core city infrastructure becomes a requirement when seeking to implement IoT technologies in a city. This panel of smart infrastructure solution providers will discuss smart infrastructure that can be multi-purposed to meet the growing and evolving needs of the community in which it is deployed.

How To Survive Machine Automation and Attract New Skilled Workers

Manufacturing is becoming more automated with technologies like AR, AI, and robotics leading to a displacement of some skill sets. How do executives drive transformation in manufacturing, attract necessary talent and disrupt their workplace for the better? This session examines how the manufacturing sector is responding to digital change and the impact on a workplace’s most valuable asset: its people.

Enabling Industry 4.0 – Deploying the Digital Thread in Pursuit of Value and Performance

A digital thread is a seamless strand of data and computing, stretching across the product lifecycle – including design, engineering simulation, production, inspection, and deployment. It is often talked about, but seldom seen. This panel will overview progress on the development and deployment of digital thread across enterprises. What are the opportunities and challenges associated with actual deployment? Where do we find the information we need to get started?

Healthcare

Shaping the Future of Patient-Clinic Interaction

Patient and Clinician interaction is evolving. As patients become increasingly knowledgeable and informed of their health and disease state, they are forcing health care to re-think the traditional doctor-patient relationship. Gone are the days where doctors prescribed and patients followed. Today, doctors act as advisers and coaches to guide and support patients in their pursuit of health and wellness. This presentation will provide an overview of what that future might look like and the journey we must take to get there.

eHealth Meets Data to Drive Personalized Care

An academic hospital in the Netherlands (UMC) is running several pilots where data analytics is used to improve the personalization of health, i.e. make decisions smarter and faster by insights derived from analytics on collected data. An important enabler of this development is the rise of IoT devices (apps/sensors) in combination with eHealth (i.e. serving patients at home) allow for more and different data points to be collected in order to derive better insights. Examples of these pilots are the prediction of adverse events for cardio problems or the prediction of sepsis in newborns. An important element in this new approach is the change management that needs to be applied to ensure that the insights that are derived from the data are interpreted in the right manner and trusted so that the clinician take the appropriate measures.

Scalable Therapeutics and the Future of Care Delivery

In the very near future, economics will force the reduction of healthcare services delivered via individual interactions between doctors and patients. “Scalable Therapeutics” expands the impact each clinician can provide, in a cost-effective manner, beyond current geographic boundaries. While current telemedicine services are delivered 1-on-1 and don’t fit on the continuum of care or have validated outcome metrics, the projects coming from UCSF are backed by psychometrics which ensures patients and doctors can expect measurable progress in their treatment. This work is resulting in new health care products and services offerings that are designed for usability and are truly integrated with sensors (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to navigate patients to the appropriate level of care This presentation will give an insider’s glimpse, through a brief demo and in-depth explanation of these products, as well as the branding and communications used to connect with patients, into this new care delivery ecosystem being developed – and promoted – by UCSF and its partners and how Scalable Therapeutics aims to revolutionize care delivery for better outcomes for everyone.

Embracing the Challenges Posed by Modern Connected Medical Devices

When lives are at stake, security becomes non-negotiable: Hospitals and medical device makers are not just exposed to material theft; the safety of patients and their confidential data, the software operating critical medical equipment, and the IP invested by medical technology specialists are now major targets. In a global marketplace, a new approach to designing medical units can also win the producers new market share and recurring revenues.

Implementing Digital Twin in Practice

Digital twin presents a compelling case where a virtual model of physical assets is used to predict behaviors and prescribe actions. In practice however, implementing these twins presents a set of challenges including handling data and models at scale. It’s not just about models and data for a single asset type or issue, but unlocking the digital twin’s promise lies their composition, reuse, and application as part of a larger system or process with multiple owners. We describe a journey of building comprehensive digital twins by combining and contextualizing individual components via a domain knowledge graph. We walk through several industrial use cases including oil and gas, and chemicals.

Ethics and Social Responsibilities in Deploying AI Solution in Real World

With digital transformation, companies are collecting and analyzing unprecedented amount of data — on their products, processes, customers, employees to name a few – to gain competitive edge. The data along with AI is being used to drive decision making process throughout many organizations – from hiring new employees, scheduling work, to detecting abnormal access to key resources. The pervasiveness of such use is quickly making ethics a front-and-center issue as many Machine Learning techniques in AI are being used as black boxes. Few can fully explain how decisions are made by these algorithms. This panel will focus on five key issues and concerns in adopting AI responsibly: privacy, algorithmic biases, unintended algorithmic outcomes, job displacement and singularity.

Blockchain

Blockchain and (Manufacturing) Supply Chains

If there’s one vertical sector that greatly benefits from adopting Blockchain technology, it’s the logistics industry. From conducting payment and audits to tracking inventory and assets, Blockchain technology enables greater supply chain efficiency than ever before. Martijn will share with you a variety of practical use cases that have been deployed over the last 12 months. He will also explain how an increased transparency in the (manufacturing) supply chain can lead to new sources of working capital through a much more efficient supply chain finance mechanism.

Using Blockchain to Reinvent the Franchise Model

GarfieldEATS launched in Dubai and is eyeing rapid expansion throughout the world. Not only does it distinguish itself through its dishes (pizza, lasagna, and popcake desserts), GarfieldEATS reinvents the way restaurants engage with their clients through the mobile app and with their franchisees using a blockchain-based franchise model. Pascal will explain to us the major pain-point for any franchisor; how to align franchisees with the brand. While multiple restaurants may share the same brand name, they may compete with each other for the same customer. Using real-life examples, Pascal will share how a blockchain-based platform and incentive solution makes it much easier to align franchisees with the brand.
